Danica , my partner, did most of the paper work for me. I got scolded by the chief of police for being so ruthless for so many times. However, he applaud me for my work as I do my best. I like sir. Mark, He's gay and he also know the struggles of discrimination. He's my hero. He's a six foot one fair skinned guy, big build and has white streaks of hair. A brilliant yet troubled man maybe due to his sexuality. Being gay didn't bother his family but it sure did bother his profession. He worked twice as hard to reach his goal and I will do the same.
Being a woman in this field of work has never been easy. The perverse stares, cat calls, harassment, discrimination, They always look at my ass, although to be fair I have a great ass. However, they are all unpleasant. So I keep my composure most of the times and I tend to be ruthless at every criminal. I work a hundred more times harder than any of the guys in this office. Call me anything you want but i'm not stopping any time.
One thing I hate the most besides the discrimination is the stupid necklace policy. Most of the guys keeps checking my necklace if it glows with them. Thankfully, it didn't. I'm done with this junk, The chief ordered me in.
"Danica and Anne, you go with John and Chris to chase Aldwin Cruz. He's a serial killer who murders the prostitutes at Crossing Calamba. Think you can take him?" The room was silent but I eagerly answered yes by the time he stopped speaking. We prepared for the night when we can strike.
Danica posed as a prostitute since she know how to engage in counter attacks. John sets up the sniper while Chris was surveying the scene and evacuated the prostitutes while I wait for the right time to strike. Three hours passed and it was already 10 o'clock we we're getting impatient when Danica pop up a firecracker to signal. She was already combating Aldwin, John was Struggling to get a clear shot so Chris and I jumped in but there was a problem. My necklace was glowing and so was the serial killer. He used this as a diversion and he ran away. Danica has been severely injured so John stayed with him. Me and Chris tried to chase him. Unfortunately, Chris fell down and broke his ankle. Consequently, it was all up to me. Thankfully, my red necklace glowed and so as Aldwin's so I got the chance to track him.
The chase was exhausting, considering how big Crossing is. The Overpass chase was exhausting and tedious. However upon entering trade at night, had me more cautious. The good thing is that I know this place like the back of my hand. I lost sight of the red glow he has - then by surprise He threw a table at me. I couldn't stand.
"Well, what do we have here? My soulmate" As he was playing with his knife. I'm still gathering strength to attack him."You did well my darling, but unfortunately I have no time to fall in love with my soulmate. I" - I used a broken chair to hit him. I got my strength back and pinned him down. "Well atleast let me buy you dinner first." I punched him but he wouldn't stop teasing me. Our necklaces would only glow so brighter.
I couldn't think of finding my soulmate, Although to be honest it has been my dream to become a bride but not to a scum like this. Why is my soulmate a scum like him?! These thoughts caught me off guard and he pinned me to the ground. Luckily, John was there and arrested him.
Danica and Chris were recovering when we we're discussing my necklace. "What you want to do now?" your soulmate is a serial killer of prostitutes and is currently in solitary confinement." Danica said. "Don't mind us. we're going to be fine but you should get going now. John needs you."
I was on my way to the police station when I couldn't help but think. Why am I contained to a stupid fate that my soulmate is a killer?! Did the universe decide this? Can't we be with someone who is not intertwined with this stupid necklace?! I was so angry that I didn't notice that I was speaking loudly to myself.
John welcomed me with a bottle of soda and we discussed the situation. "He's getting bailed I don't have any clue how but apparently he's the nephew of a senator. We cannot do anything about it." John stated. "He will be leaving this 2 o'clock." He added. I couldn't believe it. A serial killer is let go because of his uncle's power? What a stupid justice system! I answered John "They're going to let him roam free? then what are we going to do?!" I hysterically exclaimed. "We stop him once more." John said calmly.
I never quite understand this but John's words always gave me a sense of comfort. He makes me feel safe. I couldn't also help but think that the scum serial killer is my soulmate.
It was 2 o'clock and Chief Mark personally escorted Aldwin outside the prison. John gave me a letter from Aldwin. I didn't read it at that time since Aldwin was too busy having fun at his freedo while the entire station is frustrated. We moved on with our day and I sat down to read the letter. It says:
My dear soulmate,
I, Aldwin Cruz, invite you for dinner this night at Ding-Hao Restaurant. Please wear you best clothes and try to look pleasant. I've already made a reservation so please come. I would love to see that necklace of yours too.
P.s.
Take note of my Last name, you may have it one day.
I was infuriated and saw this as an opportunity. I always believed in the goodness of people. Maybe he has reasons. The people he killed may have died but he was only the instrument of it. I'll give him a chance. After all, either him or I die alone. I've seen people force themselves upon people who do not match their necklace they end up being in a disaster and broken hearted.
I wore a backless dress with a nice purse to go along with it. My red guitar shaped necklace glows and it stand the most. There he was, a scum killer who has killer looks. His guitar shaped necklace glows. You would not expect for a murderer to look this good and be this gentleman. We talked.
Aldwin: You look great
Anne: Thank you
Aldwin: honestly, I though you would not come. I will be force to eat by myself.
Anne: That would be rude isn't it?
Aldwin: Yes. I believe you are my soulmate haha
Anne: Yes, but before-
Aldwin: Why I kill those people right?
Anne: Yes, you must have a reason.
Aldwin: My mom was a prostitute and my father was only one of his customers. She never loved me so his brother took care of me.
Anne: Don't you feel bad about the people you kill?
Aldwin: Of course I feel bad! (Breaks down) Every face of the women I kill is etched in my mind. But I couldn't stop. I wasn't feasting on my hunger, I was merely seeking revenge.
Anne: If you would be given a chance to start anew would you do it?
Aldwin: I don't know, it's for the world to decide
Anne: Let me help you! We can start a family and clear your name. You'll get some jail time but with the help of your uncle you would be set free. What do you think?
Aldwin: No. It's too late for me now. That John guy told me things about you, I would only ruin you life. You'll be fine.
Anne: I guess we both know what happens next right?
Aldwin: You made an empire by yourself and supported your family. Your profession is just a risk we you could not take. It all goes down to this. If we were truly soulmates, maybe in another life we would have the life we wanted but not in this lifetime. you'll be fine alone. Take care
He close his eyes as I stabbed the knife through his throat. Our necklaces shattered.
