Dancing under the light in her beautiful white dress Luna leans her head on Matthew's shoulders.
"Do you know that it would be lihe this?
"yes"
"How?"
"It has always been you Luna, no one else. I never knew but this is how I always hope htings turn out"
"Aren't you gonna say anything to her?"
"Nah, I'm good to be honest"
"You're not gonna see her next til next year"
"it's like 2 weeks calm, down"
"Are you okay?"
"I hope so"
An upset Matthew was lying on his bed while Joaan was scolding her
"You can't sleep through everything you know"
"Watch me"
Luna was enthusiastic about her new girlfriend Emily that she calls Matthew everyday about it. Little did she know about the latter's feelings.
"Stings huh" Joana said as she grabs teh beer from andre
"You okay" Andre as he taps matthew's shoulder
"Yeah, I should be" Matthew said as he ate the last fishball
Matthew was sitting bside his bed hoping that there was a random gift from someone, or anyone in his bag.
He found nothing so he slept
Luna was about to sleep when she had the urge to fix her things.
Grabbing her backpack she saw a package that was never there before. It was a black beaded bracelet which says: "To my lucky charm Luna from Matthew"
She couldn't sleep a wink that night
Matthew was eating a Christmas ham when his sister asked if he's okay
"Yeah"
Luna was scooping up ice cream when her brother asked the same.
Little did they know they were longing for each other
Luna and Matthew were having dinner. The lights around them were brimming and the cold wind embraces them both. It was the last day of the semester and they would now se each other for the next couple of weeks.
"What's your christmas wish?" Luna said as she sliced her cake
"Probably a new console, you?"
"World peace"
"Are you twelve years old?"
"It's kind of weird to ask for anything more when you feel like you have everything you need and want"
Luna looked at the window while smiling and Matthew was looking at her.
"Yeah, I know"
Jaime saw Jaime by the bench after a class where she bolted out immediately.
Sitting beside her, he was looking for words but nothing was coming out
Fortunately, the silence is hat she needs right now
Barely I've been in this university and I'm exhausted as hell.
"Yeah me too" Jaime replied
I woke up in the middle of the night and I got the urge to look at he bright full moon. To quote Michael Scott: "I am ready to get hurt again"
I was sitting on my bedside as I grab my nintendo DS.
"I wonder what she's doing right now?" I thought to myself
Matthew felt more tired than usual but this time he's not sleepy.
"She's happy you know"
"I know, but are you?
This happened during sophomore days.
"Hey, there's this girl in my other class"
"Hmmm Emily isn't?"
"You know her?"
"No, But I know you"
"You think I should go for it?"
"If it makes you happy, yeah"
"Thanks"
Luna then suddenly left and high fived Matthew as she ran to Emily. Matthew went back to his dorm.
There was a knock, and it was Joana.
"Funny, you're not asleep"
"Just be happy I opened the door"
"I would've break in anyway... Are you okay with this?"
"Yeah, I always am"
"Listen if you need some-"
"Thanks but I'll be fine promise, it's band aid to be pulled again"
Joana then sat beside Matthew and grabbed a controller, she knew he wouldn't speak and talking is pointless. So she sat beside him for the night.
There was nothing much to do so Matthew slept.
Beside him is his phone ringing.
Matthew is a type of guy who will never aim for the extra mile because he's happy with the miles he achieved. He just want things done in the earliest possible time but would never lie about his willingness to sleep.
"Hey Matthew-"
"Nah I'm good"
But when it comes to Luna he never really cared for his naps or rest
After a long day, Luna decided to sleep early, something she doesn't normally do.
Luna and Matthew ordered a family sized pizza for the two of them because they can.
Eating diligently, their hand touched when they were to grab the last slice.
"Oh take it, I've had enough" Matthew said
"Oh no, you take it since I know how much you love hawaiian" she replied
He smiled and pretended to play on his phone.
"Smart! he was pretending not to care so I won't be embarassed taking the pizza." Luna said to herself
Luna puts hot sauce on the pizza
"Oh no, I had too much hot sauce on it, Matthew can you eat it for me, since I don't like spicy food much?"
He stared at her "Cunning girl! she knows that in that part I won't be able to resist it" Matthew though to himself.
"Since when? yesterday you were fine with the shawarma more than me" Mathew as he pushes the pizza box to Luna
"This guy!" Luna said to herself
Out of nowhere, Andre passed by and took the last slice of pizza for himself.
"It's getting cold, what a waste" Andre said as he chews
Matthew and Luna looked disappointed and when they notice the other they just laughed about it.
While eating at their favorite cafeteria Luna and Matthew orderd garlic chicken and sat on their favorite spot: by the doorstep near the road.
Luna felt a shiver down her spine as if she's being watched. Matthew felt the same.
"Oh my God, she's here, isn't she?" Luna said as her eyes widened and her chewing got slower
Matthew nodded in reply.
Slowly they looked to their left and there was Vanessa. She was smiling at them and nodding her eyebrows at them as she drank apple juice.
One time during sophomore year a classmate of Luna and Matthew noticed that they were together most of the time.
"You two a couple or something?" Vanessa said after she bit her apple
"What?! No!" Luna and Matthew said in unison
"Calm down," she smiled while munching the apple more
Matthew and Luna looked at each other and when their eyes met, they jumped and looked away immediately.
By the time I got home everyone has already eaten dinner so I had to eat and wash the dishes alone.
Lying down on my bed, staring at the ceiling I was thinking about the university and all. I had the sudden urge to sit and write something down
"She never looked perfect, but she always looked nice. Not one thing about her I resent, even if I had to look twice. Maybe too soon for me to present, but I do like that smile"
I was supposed to write a name down but I decided to not to.
I lay down in my bed again.
Matthew was asleep as always and Luna was looking at him as she sat beside his bed.
"Oh if only you know"
She lay down on her bed soon after that and fell asleep. Matthew woke up an grabbed a glass of water. he fixed Luna's blanket as the latter sleeps wildly that she kicked hers under the bed.
Tucking the blanket to Luna he went beck to his bed, looked at her and said:
"What could have been?" then he went to sleep.
Luna heard the whole thing.
This happened during Luna's sophomore days
She and Matthew was arguing about something and Matthew joked "For thesake of the conversation, I'm right"
Naturally, she lashed out and didn't talk to him much again.
Matthew tried to ask her out for lunch but she just made a reason of some sort.
It went on for that for a few weeks until Matthew was uncomfortable of the silence. They were in the college lobby where Matthewpurposefully sat beside Luna.
It was tense. The wind was cold and the people were loud but for some reason these two were hearing nothing but white noise.
"Hey I'm sorry" Matthew said "I should've considered your feelings more and simply talked to you rather than lashing out like that and avoiding, it was immature of me"
"yeah you suck, though you did try to approach me, so even?"
"Even"
They were laughing at the lobby when Andre entered
"You two good now?"
They looked at each other and said "yeah"
Going home I passed by Jaime and Jaime where they were about to get dinner.
"You skipped GI?"
"Nah, we're on different schedules" Jaime said as he hastily walk but for some reason I stopped him
"Hey"
"Are you looking for Marisol and Mark? I think they went that- I have no idea where they"
"No, I was just gonna ask if it's weird to fall for someone you just met"
"Yeah it's weird but hopeless romantics do that often"
"Cut him some slack" Jaime said "It's perfectly normal to be infatuated but gaurd your heart before interpreting anything" she followed
"Yes, that is what I'm going to say" Jaime said
"As if" she replied
I smiled at them and stopped feeling weird
"Don't smile at us while you hold an umbrella bro it's scary"
"What no! I'll go"
"I'm messing with you, weird umbrella though for a grown man"
"Long story"
I left and said thanks to the two of them. My shoulders felt lighter as if someone just stepped down from it.
"So it's not weird huh" I said while brushing my left shoulder
Dropping Kate at her dormitory I was stopped by the
landlady by the door
“No boys allowed”
Stepping back I saw her dormitory and it was more of a
haunted house than a dormitory to be honest.
“Hey I had fun today” Kate said with a smile
“I did too, but it was tiring so I may not attend
again”
“Oh” her face looked down after I said that
“Maybe I’ll come back again if there’s a reason to” I
said trying to cheer her up and it worked as she smiled at me and said bye
while sprinting upstairs.
“Smooth” the landlady said
“Huh?”
“Just leave, it’s almost curfew “
Matthew woke up
for a bit.
“Hey, how’s your
love life so far?”
“Well, I’ve been
ghosted”
“Even pretty
girls get ghosted too huh”
“Especially the
pretty girls”
The two just
laughed the conversation off until Luna asked Matthew back
“How about you?
how things are working with the Liza girl?”
“Well, she doesn’t
like me back “
“Well you
deserve better anyway”
“Better than
who?”
“Well, better
than her I guess”
“Maybe, who
knows”
Matthew just
started staring at the ceiling while Luna was chomping down on her snacks.
It’s the weekend but Luna opted not to go home as she has things to
finish and she prefers being alone so she could focus.
“You coming home?” her older brother asked over the phone
“Nah, I have things to do”
“During my undergrad days I love going home you know”
“Yeah but you never really committed to anything”
“Fair point, by the way how’s the guy you dated back then? Where I
caught you making out”
Luna blushed and answered hastily in defense
“It didn’t work out okay?! Knock it off!”
“Sheesh calm down, just be careful okay don’t bring boys over”
“I’m not twelve”
Her brother hangs up and Luna started to write reports and polish the
minutes of meeting that just occurred. She worked very efficiently that by the
time it was 2pm, all of her task were finished.
“I should’ve gone home… I could still though, but nah” Luna was talking
to herself.
Scrolling through her phone she saw a picture of her and Matthew during
an event. She decided to give him a call.
“Please don’t bother me”
“I miss you too Matthew”
At the background, Luna overheard an old lady rambling over then phone.
“That voice, you didn’t come home too?”
“Yeah, I don’t want to pack up”
“Come over then! I have snacks”
Somewhere, Luna’s brother felt a cold shiver down his spine
“Are you okay?” their father asked
“Yeah, I just got the feeling something happened”
“Is it bad?”
“No”
“Then shake it off”
Back to Luna, she still is trying to convince Matthew to come over but
the latter protested that they’ve been together the entire week, they could use
some break.
“Fine! I’m coming over!”
“Please don’t”
Luna then hangs up the phone.
After a few minutes she knocked on Matthew’s door, much to the dismay of
the latter. Carrying a sleeping bag, pack of clothes and snacks Matthew just
accepted the fact that she cannot be stopped.
Luna sat down besides Matthew’s bed while Matthew lay down on his bed.
“You look great” Matthew said while his face is buried to the pillow
“Huh?”
“Stripes, they suit you” He pointed at Luna’s longsleeves
She blushed and just when she was about to reply Matthew was already
snoring.
It was weekend but Matthew opted not to go home as he
was too lazy to do so.
“Are you gone forever?” his sister asked forever
He grunted in reply
“Okay got it, but mom wants you to come home next week
so be ready”
He grunts again
“Good to know you’re doing fine in the least, next
year I’ll join you there so you’ll be forced to come home every week”
Grunting at the phone again, Matthew’s sister somehow
understood.
“What do you mean, you don’t want to see me?! I’m sure
you miss us you lazy bum”
“Hngggh”
“Okay! See you next week!”
Beside Matthew’s sister is their father who looked at
her with horror wondering how she understood any of that.
“Okay let’s start the interview!” Ben exclaimed
“Quite the energy huh” Michael said
“Well, he’s been doing his best to recruit people so
it’s understandable”
Sitting on a table opposite of the three, they were
all smiling at me that it looks funny.
Leslie clears her throat and the two boys at her side
sat properly as if the atmosphere in the room changed. This is when I started
to get nervous.
Grabbing a stack of paper under the desk, the three
started to ask me questions and Leslie led the way
“What skills can you offer to the newsletter club?”
“I’m a jack of all trades so I can write, edit, and
take photos and many more”
“Okay you’re hired, let’s get some lunch”
“Wait what?”
“You’re hired, now let’s go eat some lunch, I heard
there’s garlic chicken in Hana Rose today”
The three are about to leave the room and I’m still in
shock to how easy that was.
“That’s it? What if I’m, a serial killer or a thief or
something?”
“Are you?”
“No”
“Well let’s eat lunch”
And that’s how my newsletter club journey started.
My ex messaged me but I quickly dismissed it. Michael
seemed to notice.
“You good?”
“Never been better”
The stars dominated the night sky as the purple and blue
flashes embrace the moon. Every star shines in its own way and every second
that passes by, the darker everything around me becomes but I didn’t mind this
time as I know where to look.
Unknowingly, I looked at Celine and I also saw the awe
and amazement she have. Her arrogant grin was replaced with a childlike smile. I
fear the dark for as long as I know, I don’t know about her. But maybe all this
time we just didn’t know where to look.
Looking up again, I felt a shiver as someone was
looking at me. At first I didn’t mind as I was busy piecing together some constellations
but then I looked at the direction she where I feel like being watched and it
was Celine. She smiled at me for a second and looked away immediately.
“Okay, sightseeing is over, take some pictures you too”
Jay said as he pointed the camera at the sky.
“I don’t have one” I said
“Celine, lend him yours”
“What?! But Jay!”
“Don’t make me repeat myself” in the moment Jay’s
voice shifted from friendly dad to an authoritative dad.
Celine walked towards me as I fear what she would do I
am prepared to run. However, upon seeing the darkness beneath me I decided to
compose myself and ask her nicely.
“Here, I already set this up for you” she said with a
faint whisper
“Thanks”
I pointed the camera at the night sky and it was more
beautiful zoomed in. I pressed the button and a click sound was made.
“Let me see!” Jay exclaimed
I showed it to the two of them
“Not bad” Celine said, she was going to tap may
shoulder but she awkwardly moved her hand when Jay noticed and smiled. It was
painful to watch.
It was really dark out so me and Celine were walking
really close to Jay as we fare too afraid of the dark. I had to message my
family as I would be coming home late.
“Where are we going Jay?” Celine asked as her voice
shakes
He only laughed in response.
Upon trekking the muddy forest at the back of the
campus, we got to the gymnasium in where sports event are held.
“Are we supposed to take photos of an empty gymnasium?”
I asked
“Even better” Jay smiled as he sprint at the rooftop
of the gymnasium.
We gave him a chase as Celine and I looked at each
other nodding, as if we agreed to race to the top.
I lost.
“Pathetic” Celine said with a grin
“Stop fighting kids, look up”
Celine looked up and her arrogant grin changed to
amazement as I may have been seeing double due to the running as I think I saw
her eyes shine.
Catching my breath I composed myself and looked up as
well.
It was amazing
The next two
classes that we were supposed to take were cancelled as the professors don’t
really arrive in the first week. So Mark, Marisol, Jaime and I had to come up
with a plan to do something.
“I could play in
my dorm some games see you guys” I said
“No. You stay
and brainstorm” Jaime said while grabbing my arm
Stopped on my
tracks I was forced to think as well.
“Let’s do the
poem assignment in the library” Marisol suggested
“I already did
mine” Jaime and I said in unison
“Ah the twins
did it again” Mark remarked
“Let’s walk
around the campus if we’re really out of ideas” I said
“Didn’t you
attend the campus tour?” Jaime said
“He did, that’s
when I saw him for the first time” Marisol said
“Oh you saw me,
nice”
“Let’s do it
anyway” Mark interfered
“Yeah, it maybe
more fun with people you actually talk to”
So the four of
us went around the campus and looked at the buildings that the university
boasts. The big tree by the park was pretty weird as all the couples sat around
it and the creepy buildings in urban legends were not really scary at 2 in the
afternoon. By the time the sky was turning orange and a bit darker we decided
to part our ways.
Nodding at them,
I checked the time at my phone and said to myself “I could’ve gone to sleep”
Then I felt a
nudge in my arm and it was Jaime who said “Hey, today was fun, thank you” then
she ran away.
I guess the day’s
not so bad after all
Eating at the cafeteria,
Matthew tried to break the ice with Luna.
“So anything great happened
lately?”
“Nothing much, there was
one guy who asked me out though”
“Oh cool tell me about him”
“He’s tall, wears glasses,
smart and well dressed”
“Well, I envy you. A few
weeks in and a guy already asked you
“I’m actually panicking; do
you know what should I do?”
“Didn’t you date before?”
“Yeah, but the feeling is
different each time, how about you?”
Matthew twitched and
scratched his head “I haven’t dated yet”
Luna tilted her head and
smiled.
In the first week of classes Matthew knew a fairly amount of people despite always looking for naps and alone time. He had just transferred from another school since the enrolment in this university was 3 weeks late. Already giving up, he enrolled to another university until he got a three weeks’ notice that he actually passed. So it’s a bit of an awkward time for him.
Scrolling on Instagram during class since he finished the class activity immediately, he showed a photo to the girl beside him.
“She’s beautiful right?”
“Yeah, you like her?”
“Yeah”
The class ended with Matthew scrolling Instagram and Luna was unknowingly looking at it right now.
In the next class, it went on with a breeze with Matthew unknowingly have almost a third of his notebook filled in.
Walking outside, he was looking for a place to get lunch when he saw Luna just by the gate of their college. Walking towards him she asked “Hey, wanna go grab lunch?”
He smiled and said yes.
After lunch the last class ended early because of a
brownout and the professor is also hangover as Luna.
“We should get some fresh air” Matthew suggested
“Sure, let’s go to the park” Andre said
By the park the wind was blowing nicely along with the
sun not burning too much. The grass is green as well as the people are few. It
was perfect for Luna who was still seeing doubles in the least.
Andre brought his football so he and Matthew could
play catch. Joana was left beside Luna just in case.
“How do you think the semester will pan out?” Andre
asked as he throws the ball
“What do you mean?”
“It’s just we’re nearing graduation and all, I’m
pretty anxious about stuff”
“We have a year left so don’t worry”
“I just feel like I have a lot of things to do in this
university that I’ll regret if I don’t do right now”
“Well, being delayed is an option”
“Jerk” as Andre tosses the ball harder, “I just feel
like we’re gonna miss a lot of things when we leave you know and I don’t want
to regret anything as we leave” he followed.
“Yeah” Matthew said as he caught the ball and looked
at Luna.
Waiting at the restaurant I decided to play with my Nintendo
DS because for some reason I have this feeling inside me that I want to see
her. After a few minutes I saw someone with a ponytail, loose rainbow sweater
and boots. It was Jaime, I almost jumped out of my seat then got confused for a
moment.
“Hey, did you wait long?” she said while touching her right blue
earring
“Nah, I’m good my Empoleon is level 47 now”
She laughed and showed me her DS as well with level 99
Infernape
“I guess I’m not the only DS user in this time and age”
We ordered food and ate it as it came. Mainly we
talked about the university life on what it could offer us in the future.
“It’s going to get tougher from here huh” she said
before she took a bite of her burger
“Yeah, but let’s think about it when we get there”
While eating a bunch of highschoolers came in and sat
behind our seat. “Hey have you heard of the 8 second theory?” the one with pig
tails said
“Bad idea” said Jaime and I in unison
It got awkward for a bit then we simply laughed about
it.
Leaving the restaurant we went straight to class and
meet up with Marisol at the door.
“You seem jolly for a second day” Marisol said
A senior student was passing by with bags under her
eyes and her hair unkempt as she reek the smell of coffee.
“Ugh freshies”
The next day Luna came to class wearing sunglasses,
holding a coffee cup with scarf covering her entire head. Andre and Joana only
recognized that it was her because she’s like that every time she get hangover.
Everyone was asking her how she was but we answered
with grunts and moans.
“Where’s Matthew anyway? Didn’t he sleep at your place
last night too?”
“Yeah, but he left before I could wake up, he did cook
us breakfast though which is nice, to have someone cook meal for you”
Moments later, Matthew came in and was holding a
bottle. Holding it up he showed it to Andre and Joana “Pear juice, freshly
pressed”
He took the coffee from Luna to which the latter
protested. Flicking her forehead, he gave the pear juice to Luna and she drank
it immediately.
“Feeling better?”
After a big burp, Luna stopped slurring her words and
finally came to her senses.
“Thanks” she said as she sat down.
The rest of the day revolved around the trio taking
care of a slowly regenerating Luna.
By lunch she was a bit in her senses with only a mild
headache.
“Hey, Matthew I didn’t say anything embarrassing last
night right?”
Matthew smiled
“Nothing to be embarrassed of don’t worry”
“That stings” I said as I rub my gut.
“Serves you right” she said while clenching her fist
against me once more.
Turning around, I remember something that I was going
to ask her.
“Hey, how come you never take pictures of the stars?
They’re pretty”
“What’s it to you?
Annoyed, I just turned around and went on my way when
I heard her say: “Because it’s dark”
“Huh?”
“Nothing! Just go!”
About to go home Jay saw us while eating a hotdog
“Nice to see you two getting along just fine”
We both groaned in reply.
“Why the haste Ben? I heard Celine wants to teach you some
camera tricks”
I tilt my head in disbelief while Celine looked at me
with intent to kills.
“Don’t get the wrong idea, it’s just so that you won’t
bother us in future events”
Still scrambling for words all I can say was.
“I’m good”
“No” Jay said
“Just take one on my interns”
“It would be better if the leader would be the one to
teach them”
I looked at Jay, then at the ground, then at the sky
then around looking for Leslie, then at Celine who tried her best not to look
as friendly as possible.
I’m scared.
Without thinking I found myself inside the newsletter
clubroom, considering Ben and Michael’s recruitment. I think it would be nice to have something other
than romance for a change of pace. I saw a pretty lady just outside the door
holding a cup of ice coffee and looking done for the day despite it being only
9 in the morning, she was tall, puffy and has a long beautiful hair.
“Hey , may I ask where Michael or Ben is?”
“They have 7am classes but they’ll be back shortly,
who are you?”
“Oh! I’m Joyce someone interested in joining”
“I see, are you a sophomore as well?”
“Yes, same as those two”
“Well, I’m Leslie the current head writer of the club
and a junior, fill this form up then we’ll interview you at the time of your
choosing”
Looking around the room, there were really not much
members as all I see is probably a senior at the back stacking boxes.
“You don’t have a lot of members do you?”
“Yeah, this was just recently established last year by
me, those two and that senior out there”
“May I know why?”
“Well we want to do something but previously establish
clubs didn’t do much for us”
“I see”
I grabbed the form and filled it in immediately. I asked
Leslie if she has something to do so I can get to the interview right away.
“You’re eager to join huh, I like you already!”
She offered me coffee as we wait for the boys to make
a proper interview. The senior won’t be in the interview process but trust the
three to gauge me well. Leslie is great, she knows how to make people
comfortable and it makes me forget Jake for a while but it doesn’t remove my
nervousness for the interview.
Then the two boys came in.
Rebecca was
smiling when I saw her walking around the campus. She had Hector wrapped on her
shoulder they greeted me with a smile.
“I have no
classes today, apparently the brownout made the professors cancels all the
classes and all” she said
“Same as ours,
our classroom was even in the basement so you can expect the heat and terror
when the power went out”
“Where’s
Michael?”
“Newsletter
stuff”
The brownout
doesn’t affect the stores outside so she asked me if I want to get cat food for
Hector. I really had nothing to do that day so I accompanied her. Hector quickly
jumped on my shoulder as we walk.
For some reason
everything feels so familiar in this moment. I feel like I’ve been in this
moment before, even the way Hector brushes his tail at my back feels so
familiar. Maybe I’m just longing for something that could’ve been something
with Marisol.
Inside the pet
shop, Hector jumped off my back and slowly traverses the store.
“He usually pick
and point on the things he want so let him be, Rebecca said”
The store is
more organized that I thought. Each shelf is color organized per item, the
stacks and sacks of food are clean. Following Hector, the other cats and dogs are
slowly watching him. The cat feeds are nearby along with the cages and toys for
pets. Pointing at the ball, Rebecca quickly swooped and took the ball. This
happened for a new bowl and a collar.
“Let me get that
for you” I said
She thanked me
as I carry her stuff. Our hands touched for a bit and for some reason it made
my heart beat faster for a while.
“Sorry”
“It’s fine”
Finally, Hector
found a cat feed he wants and rubbed his paw against it. Rebecca bought and Hector
rubbed his head against her leg as gesture of thanks.
I carried the cat
food at my right hand as Rebecca and she held the other stuff on her left.
“I’ll walk you
home”
She smiled and
said thanks and as we go out the store she was about to reach for my hand.
Flustered, I looked at her and she immediately looked down, blushing and
visibly embarrassed.
“Force habit?” I
joked
“Yeah, sorry”
It was pretty
awkward walking her home as when we try to break the silence, we end up
speaking at the same time.
By the time we
got to their home Hector entered the window. There was someone as tall as and pretty
as Rebecca who greeted me.
“Oh! Haven’t
seen you in a while Sebastian”
I have never
seen her in my entire life
During Wednesdays and Fridays I only have two classes
which are better than the six during Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both of those
classes are in the afternoon so I had time to sleep. But after I had a nice
nap, I have time to burn before class and I decided to play this new game app I
saw named Fightcade. Normally, I would do my assignment but I finished it last
night as I have nothing left to do.
Opening it I entered the app and clicked the Street
fighter III 3rd strike to play. I’m not one to challenge opponents
as I prefer being challenged so I played the arcade while I wait for a challenge.
Playing against the computer can be tedious as the challenge of a real person
is really different.
Then when I decide to look for an opponent somebody
challenged me. Named “Squirtle’s Master”
They were good, damn. My Ken was no match for their
Akuma as all my combos and special attacks were parried and leaving them with
virtually no damage at all.
“Damn you’re good” I chatted
“haha been playing for a while”
After a few games they added me to their discord
channel in which they all play with friends.
Messaging the person who kicked my ass multiple times
they started calling and I’m like cool we can talk while we play.
But the voice was a girl, not that I have a problem
with it it’s just so familiar.
“So Jaime you think I’m good huh?”
“Ah!”
It was Jaime who was beating me up all this time and
she laughed
“How’d you know?”
“Maybe don’t use your real name and real last name
initial as your in game name”
“Still, there could be millions of us with the same
name”
“Yeah, But I know when I know”
“Another round?”
Then we played until 12pm and I won one match out of the
twenty seven I had. Usually it would make me hate the game but for some reason
I got the urge to be better.
“Let’s have lunch before class”
“S-sure!”
I don’t know why but I got the sense that she was
flustered by my message
“See you later” I said
“See you”
